Synopsis :

The background of the drama is about life in the mergers & acquisitions, stock market and financial world, as well as the lives of chaebols. This drama is penned by the famous writer Choi Wan Gyoo (of Jumong, All In, Love Story In Harvard, and many others) and directed by Kang Shin Hyo (of Tazza). Midas is expected to start shooting at the end of December for a tentative March 2011 release. Midas will be replacing Athena:Goddess of War.

Midas had its first script reading on December 24, 2010 and is currently in the middle of filming.

Kim Do Hyun --- (Jang Hyuk)

He is a corporate lawyer ,who because of his own desire and interest of the company, works against his own conscience. Later on he realized that he has lost something precious and afterwards transformed to be a righteous man.
It's not an exaggeration to say that he isn't the typical drama or movie lead with no bad points.
He graduated top of his class from Korea's best university and attended law school where he was again the best.
But don't mistake him as someone who studies all the time.
He is tall like a model, has a face like an actor, and there's no sports he can't do.
He is seemingly perfect with his only weak point being that he has no ambition...
He has the extraordinary face and the ability but why doesn't he have ambitions?
To understand this we need to look at his past.
When he was a child, his father left home leaving him in poverty.
His mother raised him in hardship and she passed away when he was in law school.
The only time he feels warmth in his heart is only when he is with his girlfriend Jung Yun and her family.
Though he has no ambition, his one desire is to start a family and live happily with Jung Yun.
After finishing first in law school, he never thought of being an appointed public prosecutor.
He joins the best law firm in order to be able to maintain a stable life where he can live comfortably. that is his dream and hope.
However, after he was chosen by someone, his dream is broken into pieces.
His heat which has never had any ambition until now begins to stir.
What wakes up his dormant ambition is money.
He seals his soul because of money.
The price he has to pay for money is the ability to sleep at night.

Lee Jeong Yeon --- (Lee Min Jung)

She is a recent graduate from a nursing school and has just begun working at a large general hospital. She is Kim Do Hyun's first love. She has a tragic love story and she is bearing her grief.

Yoo In Hye --- (Kim Hee Ae)

She is a woman with a particularly keen business acumen, who happens to be romantically partnered with a chaebol.

Yoo Myung Joon (31 years old, male)

Yoo In Hye's (Kim Hee-ae) only younger brother.
He grew up with his biological mother, who was abandoned by his father, Yoo Pil Sang (Yoo Myung Joon's father), along with Yoo In Hye.

Unlike In Hye, Myung Joon has a more softer and more delicate character. He believes that money is the reason to the misfortune that he has suffered. Therefore, he finds that money is evil and despicable.

In order to get rid of and escape the negative image of "the abandoned daughther of a chaebol", In Hye left Korea. During this period of time when she was away, her mother started suffering some mental disorder. Thus, the job of looking after her fell in the hands of Myung Joon.

And maybe because of this, the cold-hearted In Hye can often sense and detect any matters that is related to Myung Joon.

Due to the prejudice towards money and his own birth, Myung Joon seems cynical and waste his time by partying from dusk til dawn. He was like this till Jung Yun (Lee Min Ji) appeared in his life.
Yoo In Hye's (KimHee-ae) younger brother.
The other biological child of In Hye in the Yoo family.
Unlike other brothers, their father detests them greatly, and had always seen them as a pain in the neck.

When they were young, their mother had suddenly disappeared. However, their father did not say a word about their mother's sudden disappearance to them.
And maybe because of this incident, Myung Joon started disliking his father subconsciously.
He only did things that his father disapproves of, wasting his time away by partying from dawn till dusk.
However, fate has made an arrangement for him to meet Jung Yun (Lee Minji), which Myung Joon found very captivating.

Previously, all the women approached him due to the fact that his family is rich. However, Jung Yun was different.
But because of all the past experiences with women, he thought that Jung Yun was the same as the others, and will only be interested in him for a short period of time.

Maybe because heavens above couldn't stand his wastrel behaviors anymore, Myung Joon found himself down with terminal stage cancer.Co-incidentally, the nurse who was in-charge of him was Jung Yun. As time goes by, there was some chemistry and love blossoming between the two. Although Myung Jun was clear that Jung Yun's "affection and care" for him was solely between a "patient and care-taker", he still felt the warmth feeling of being loved and cared for, a feeling he has not felt before.

Myung Jun had started opening his heart to his official first love, but unfortunately, he got weaker and frailer as he faced his on-coming death. Jung Yun started feeling empathy for this situation, and the two of them started experiencing a wonderful feeling of a love blossoming.

Choi Kook Hwan (Chun Ho Jin) -- The character who changed Do Hyun's life. He is someone who opened Do Hyun's eyes to money and he's also the one who awakened Do Hyun's ambitions.
Yoo Myung Joon (Noh Min Woo) -- Yoo In Hye's younger brother. The only brother who Yoo In Hye shared the same mother with.
Yoo Pil Sang (Kim Sung Kyum) -- His wealth is only in the trillions of won but that seems to small compared to the way his family lives.
Yoo Sung Joon (Yoon Je Moon) -- Yoo In Hye's second oldest brother. A typical 2nd generation chaebol boss. He is someone who always excels in what he does. Because of this he is extremely arrogant to the point of being self absorbed.
Yoo Ki Joon (Choi Jung Woo) -- Yoo In Hye's oldest brother. Through the development and speculation of Yoo Pil Sang's real estate, he established Yoo Sung Construction where he is made president.
Yoo Mi Ran (Han Yoo Ee) -- Yoo In Hye's younger sister. A typical spoiled rich girl. She is known in Kangnam clubs as Korea's Paris Hilton.
Kim Dae Sung (Lee Duk Hwa) -- Do Hyun's father. He left child Do Hyun and Do Hyun's mother to look for a gold mine going around the country.
Kim Do Chul (Kim Sang Oh) -- Do Hyun's half brother. He lives his life taking advantage of others without the slightest bit of reserve.
Lee Yong Kook -- Jung Yun's father. He raised Jung Yun with firm and sincere while he worked at the ironworks.
